STEM

We are learning to problem solve as a team.We made a chair out of tape paper and sissors.It had to be 10cm off the ground and able to hold a stuffed toy.My one only held the stuffed toy for a couple of seconds.It was getting hard at the end because the wind was making the tape scrunch up and we had to keep getting more tape.
how could you make a chair that holds a stuffed toy with only sissers paper and tape?

STEM

We are learning to work as a team and we have been doing stem with room 2.

Today we were making a marble shot with 6 toilet rolls and scissors and tape i started to get frustrated being we were running out of time but then miss Hart said we could have 2 extra minutes  because we had to wait for a sheet.

Next time i wouldnt worry about decorating.

today room 4 and 2 did another stem challenge.We had to make a bridge that can hold 2 books with popcicle sticks.that was propably one of the best stem challenge because we were all doing something and our brige was great because it could hold to books and because we decorated it and its now relly coulorful.Next time we could not rush.

Blazing Holy Spirit🔥

We have been learning about the Holy spirit and that pentecost is the birthday of the church holy and also that the tongues of fire went on the diciples and they spoke many different languages
Holy  spirit in maori is te  wairua tapu

I found it hard when we had to fill in a sheet about pentecost and write what we know because i did't know anything about it.

I enjoyed making a poster on pic collage  because we got to choose our pictures.

Life Cycles

We are learning to write an explanation about life cycles.A life cycle is an animal going from baby to adult you need to add technical languege,subtittles,indroduction,stages and factual infomation.Example:newborn cub independent and giant pandas.
Next time I will add detail to my facts.

I like writing  about life cycles because I learn alot of facts and cool information.

Pandas Life Cycle 

I´m going to tell you about pandas and their life cycle.

Newborn

Newborn pandas are blind and helpless.They weigh 100 grams and drink their mums milk.

Cubs 

When they become cubs they start to eat bamboo and don´t drink their mother's milk anymore.They could easily die in the wild because they are defenseless.

Independents 

In 4 years they weigh up to 150kg and are very mature.Their eat all day and sleep.

Giant Pands 

Female pandas are only able to get pregnant for 2-3 days in a year always in the spring and raise their cubs alone.Pandas live up to 20 years 

I like pandas because they are cute and fluffy.

Ten commandments

We have been learning about the ten commandments and how it shows Gods love.The ten commandments are important  because they help us live a good life.I think I should work on not saying Gods name in vain.
How are the ten commandments important to you ?

sand dunes

we are learning about sand dunes and how to look after them like God has said.We made our own mini sand dunes and it was boiling hot .Then we ate and talked about the flowers,grass and plants on the sand dunes😥.We can care about the sand dunes by not picking off the plants,walking around them and not on them.
I liked doing this because i didn't know about sand dunes and how special they are.I also liked learning that the sand comes from mountains when it rains on the mountains it makes sand.

best day ever

W.A.L.T  write a recount.I writ about my best day ever and the goal I set myself is to add more detail to my writing.In my writing I forgot to add detail words but after I read over it I added more detail.My next step is to read over my writing and add punctuation and describe what happened more.
I like recounts because you write about something that has already happened.

Best Day Ever

I saw the water splash right uo to the sand.

I saw the sand castles getting wiped away with the foamy fast waves.

I heard the kids screaming.

I heard the dogs barking. 

I felt wet as the water slid down my back.

I felt the sand spread like butter over my feet.

I wonder why the waves came right up?

STEM

Today room 4 and room 2 did another stem challenge. Today we had to make something that floats.
We had to get the things we need from the domain and my group got sticks then miss Holland gave us all 2 long pieces of string , 3 pip cleaners and 2 rubber bands. We made our boat and we then went into a circle with all of the other groups.In the middle of the circle there was a big bucket of water we took turns to test our boats. my groups boat floated.Next time i think i could help my group better .I really enjoyed doing this because we got to get our things out of the domain.

CAPITALS on your chrome books 😁

W.A.L.T write instructions.I wrote instructions on  how to do capitals on your chrome books.

We used screen castify  to record it but it it made me frustrated because their was so much noise in the background.

Reconciliation

We are learning about reconciliation

We are learning to write instructions to do this you need to have
-title
-list the equipment
-write clear instructions which explain exactly what to do
-use precise vocabulary

How to play memory

Goal:I am teaching you how to play memory. memory is a card game.

Materials:

• people to play
• a full pack of cards.

Method

First flip over all of the cards so you don´t see whats on them.
Next take turns and flip over two cards at a time.
If they have the same numbers on them you take the two cards and put them behind you.
The person with the most cards wins.

The Escape Room

W.A.L.T work together as a team and solve problems.

Today room 4 and room 2 got into teams and had to find clues that lead to words then when we know  the secret code we tell the teacher the code but we have to say it quietly or the other teams will know it  then the teacher will let you out of the room and the other teams will still be inside the class till you find the code.

I found annoying having to wait for some of the puzzles because most of the teams were waiting.

W.A.L.T write instructions today we had to get into pairs and draw a picture then we had to describe it to our buddy and our buddy has to try and draw the same picture by using the instructions your buddy gives you.

I found this easy because the instructions my buddy gave me were clear and easy to understand.

what do you like about telling instructions? 

controlling your anger

Today I learnt different ways to control my anger these are some ways i use to control my anger.
-deep breathes
-stress balls
-freezing my body 
-drawing

These are things I do when I am angry
-clunking my teeth
-sweaty palms
-closing my fists
-stomping my feet

how can you control your anger?       

narrative writing

W.A.L.T  write a narrative, to do the you need to;put a tittle , introduce the character, describe the setting,explain the problem , write a solution and end the story.

My favourite part of this writing was describing the setting because there were so many ideas i had like spiders everywhere, smashed windows, broken doors , ripped mattress, broken chairs and rust on the sink tap.

I find hard having to think about different ways/words to start my sentences.

My next step is adding punctuation in my writing I will do this by reading over my writing.

The Mirror                                     

Once upon a time there was a cottage.Inside this cottage was one little girl that always got into trouble.Her parents left her at the cottge and they said that they will be going to the supermarket to get some stuff for dinner but they never came back.The little girl was all alone at the little cottage.Then in the morning she checked again and she found her dad but not her mum she checked outside she yelled mum  but no one answered then she saw something moving in the bushes but it was just a hedgehog.She kept checking then they saw a mirror in the middle of the forest the little girl put her arm through the mirror and pulled out her mum she kissed and hugged and they all went back to the cottage and they explained what happend then they all lived happily ever after.

baptism

In the past couple of days my class started learning about baptism.We learnt that baptism is the first sacrament and we learnt about the symbols  these are the symbols we need for baptism.What do you know about baptism and have you been baptised?

Magnificent museum

Yesterday room 1  and room 4 went to the botanic gardens museum. We saw lots of animals and a lot of birds when we walked into the bird room above us there were birds hanging on a piece string  there were 2 mummy's.

I learnt that poler bears have black skin but we cant see the black because the white fur covers it.
I liked learning that because i didn't know that their skin is black.

It was a very big museum and a very fun museum i wish we could go there every day but we cant.

Slime💖

We are learning to write persuasive arguments we made a advertisement about a toy and i picked slime because it is super fun to make and play with.

You can make your slimes lots of colors and if you would like you could add charms and glitter to make it pretty. It was hard making the video because people kept walking past and talking so i had to try over and over again. I enjoyed making the video when it worked.
What do you know about slime and how do you make slimes?

Magnificent money

We have been learning to describe a character. To do this we say what your character does, its likes and dislikes, we also say what it looks like.

I enjoyed adding fun words that make my story more descriptive like a grey old, mustache that hang below his nose.

Starting my sentences with different words was challenging because it was hard thinking of words.

I like the way I added descriptive words.

Statistics

Statistics is finding infomation and gathering in into a bargraph, pictograph and tally chart in my class i learned to make bargraph And sharing your information.
A pictograph is when you write your options down then ask people want there favourite one is out of your options every time someone votes on your work you get to draw the option they picked next to the option that you write on the sides and the one that gets the most votes is the most popular.
I enjoyed learning about statistics because we now know what people like the most.
I found drawing the pictures challenging because it was hard to draw the shops.
