WALT: Create symmetrical art.
In maths we have been learning about geometry particularly symmetry.
Today we got to make some art that had to be symmetrical.
we all got 2 pieces of paper I choose red and orange then we folded one of our papers and drew a symmetrical shape, animal, or logo.
I chose toothless from how to train your dragon.
Then we cut our drawing in half and cut it out being very careful then we stuck the drawing on to a different coloured piece of paper.

WALT: write an explanation.
We have been learning about environmental problems then we got to write an explanation about the problem.
This is my explanation.
Did you know that 22 billion water bottles are wasted every year?
When these plastic bottles go into the ocean they release toxic chemicals like BPA that can cause diseases and hormone cancer. This is a massive problem but there are solutions…
These plastic bottles harm sea animals and a lot of sea animals die from getting stuck in the plastic or eating it. As each bottle decomposes it leaks damaging chemicals into our environment.
The majority of plastic bottles get released into the ocean, the chemicals from these bottles cause diseases that are released into the ocean.
Plastic bottles are awful for our environment but metal bottles can be reused and washed. Metal bottles dont get put into the ocean. They can be recycled or taken to the landfill.
This is a massive issue hurting the planet. Using metal bottles will help our environment.
Metal bottles will help save more sea animals and will stop plastic from going into our ocean.
WALT: follow the design process.
For inquiry we have been learning about technology our first activity was to fill in our brainstorm of making a catholic Christmas decoration for miss Rooney's library. Miss Pownall is getting some fabric so that we could sew. I decided to make a star.

Me and my friend Paige created a google slide showing why using plastic is bad for our earth. We put what the problem is why its important and a solution.
WALT: Practice our maths knowledge.
This is one of the maths problems i had to solve.
I worked out the answer by counting on from 44 to 47 which has three number in between then I counted on from 50 which was 53 then i did 3 more than 56 which is 59 the last on was 62

In Antarctica there is ice all over the grounds but at other camps like Living
springs or Authors pass they don't have ice on the grounds they have grass
and concrete. Also the other camps are not as cold as Antarctica.
Both of the camps have rosters on who's doing the dishes and who's helping with
the food. In Antarctica they have to separate the poo from the pee.
They use a bucket for poo and a bottle for pee then they get sent off to Scot
base but eventually end up in New Zealand.

Twigg competed in the Olympics as a New Zealand rower last Friday and won gold. She won with a time of 7.13.97. "I can't believe it. Honestly, crossing the line it was disbelief¨
In the finals Twigg was leading with Canada coming through. They were just a boat away.
Twigg still won gold and Canada won silver.
At the end of the race Twiggs face looked like she was exhausted but she also looked proud.
Twigg started rowing in 2001 for the Napier girls high school and the hawkes bay rowing club. After 2 years of practice she was representing New Zealand at 2003 world rowing junior champions in Athens, Greece.

This is the billionaire boy book review I wrote for a competition.
Billionaire Boy!
´Meet Joe Spud, the richest 12-year-old in the world. Joe has everything he could ever want: his own formula one racing car, a thousand pairs of trainers, even an orang-utan for butler!
Yes joe has everything he wants but there's just one thing he really needs a friend...´
Billionaire boy is a fiction book written by David Walliams.
This book is about a boy whose name is Joe and he had a very very rich Dad. They were so rich that they used their money to blow their noses or when they got bored they would scrunch up their money.
¨I will give you 50 quid for you to let me win the cross country¨
Joe Spud uses money to get friends and he pays people to do something or not to do something. He is fat and slow. The Grubs are the school bully's and they bully Joe and Bob. Even though they are twins no one can tell the difference between them. Mr Spud is rich and he uses his money for most things like paying people to be friends with his son Joe. Mr Spud wears a wig and he is very fat and short.
Joe Spud´s house is a manssion because he's rich. In his mansion he has a butler that drives him to school and cleans his house, their dinner table is as long as a giraffe's neck and Joe has heaps of rooms so when he gets called to his room Mr spud would say ¨go to your rooms¨.
I think that this book is for ages 8-12.
In conclusion I would rate this book 4 stars out of 5 because…
I really enjoyed reading this book but there are more books that David Walliams has written which I enjoy more.
W.A.L.T Find information in texts. In my reading group we are learning about robots and if they should or shouldn't take over the world. This is the slide show me and my friend Paige made to show that robots shouldn't take over the world.

W.A.L.T Decode the meaning from poetry
On Monday 10th of May the senior syndicate went to the red zone. There were 4 different activities like eating rice out of our hands and having to build shelters for ourself. My favourite activity was shelter building because we had to use sticks and dirt to hold up our shelter.
The teacher that was running the shelter building was Mr Gray. We had to use big long pieces of material and string to tie material on trees and dig holes.
We went on this walk and pretended to be refugees. We did this because there are heaps of families where their houses are bombed or there country is at war.
WALT Identifiy different poem styles.
We made limerick poems, we also learned that every limerick poem has the first and second sentences rhyme with the last sentence.
This is the limerick poem I wrote.
There once was a boy named Bob.
He wanted to make a door knob.
He fell into a very small well.
He hit his head on a big fat bell.
he ate a blob of corn on the cob.
WALT: identify the 4 parts of the Mass.
This is the google drawing I filled in about the 4 main parts of a mass. I Think I did this task well but maybe next time i could work more on the writing than the pictures.
WALT: think critically when we read.
In reading we read about the maori waka then as our follow up task we filled in this dear diary sheet from google slides.
This is the sheet i filled in:
WALT: Think critically about what we read.
In my reading group we have been reading explorers of the sunrise. Miss Pownall made a google drawing about Afu and what he did this is what i would have done.
WALT: use thing skills. This is the slide show me and Kyan filled in using the thinking hats. about the washing of the feet.
WALT understand the life journey of animals.
Woodpecker using a hammer: When the woodpecker makes holes in trees to find food, the holes are left behind. What do you think the holes do to the tree?
I Think that the trees might die or stop growing. I also think other animals like squirrels will use the holes as their home or a place to stay in. I think this because lots of living things use holes to live in and to keep warm.
